As you know, Saturday, May 12, was the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. The staff of the Deacons Food Cupboard of the Jamesburg Presbyterian Church would like to thank all of the folks who helped with checking expiration dates and sorting, packing and carrying food all afternoon. I would like to thank Darlene Gliese for her "Your Turn" guest column on Spotswood's increased taxes and the school budget ("Increased Taxes Is Not Only Reason Residents Vote Against Budget," Sentinel, May 10). She stated so eloquently the many reasons the residents of Spotswood are so fed up. More ... In February the East Brunswick Police Department announced a 12-week course, the Citizens Police Academy, to be given for the first time. I signed up, expecting nothing more than a series of lectures, thinking some might even be dull. I just finished the course, and was I ever wrong in my expectations. The program was fascinating.
