East Brunswick police officers exhibited care, expertise, command

I have been a resident of this township for 30 years. I wish to thank the East Brunswick Police Department and particularly Officer Chris Soke (Badge No. 154) for their assistance and handling of an accident that occurred on the morning of June 12.

My car was parked in the Lowe's parking lot on Route 18 in East Brunswick. While I was inside the store, my car was sideswiped by a truck that left the scene of the accident. Fortunately, there was a witness who noted the name of the contractor on the side of the truck and notified the store.

I called the police department (911). The response was prompt, and the police were able to ascertain the truck that hit me. The officers went into Lowe's and checked store records to determine that the contractor's employee had made a purchase that day at the store. They noted the name of the employee and reviewed appropriate video tapes of the parking lot.

Officer Soke was intent on finding the truck and the individual who had left the scene of the accident. He indicated that justice would be served. He came to my house within the hour to let me know that the police had found the individual and issued the appropriate summonses. The officer knew that I was upset, and he went the extra mile to let me know that the crime had been solved.

As a resident of the township, I wish to thank Officer Soke and the police in general for their procedures and caring.

      Roger J. Cohen
