Snowhill area not 'barren'; needs officials' best efforts

Regarding your article titled "Changes on Horizon for Snowhill Street?" that appeared in the July 19 issue of the Sentinel, many important points were not included. I work for a business in the area to which the article is referring, and it has been operating there for 40 years.

One statement made by a Spotswood Borough Council member was about snow not being shoveled off sidewalks. There are no sidewalks on the side of Snowhill Street in the section from Heffron Drive to Adirondack Avenue. We do our best to be plowed as promptly as we can.

Another statement was about the high grass. Some of the areas where grass is high are on the Conrail right of way, and some other areas are Monroe Township Utilities right of way. Oncoming trains are hard to hear over a lawnmower or weed trimmer, but we do our best to keep the grass cut.

To label that whole area of town "barren" is ill-informed. There are families living there. The pizza place has established a good clientele, and the business I work for is open six days a week and has flowers growing neatly around it.

Considering there are plans in the works for improving the corner property and the abandoned building has already been fined, the issues seem well on their way to being resolved. We don't need a blessing, we need the same effort Spotswood officials have always shown when trying to make improvements to the town.
