Corinne Kominkiewicz has qualified for the national Junior Olympics track meet to be held next week in Walnut, Calif. She qualified by placing third in the shot put in the Intermediate Girls division at the Region 2 meet held last weekend at Stockton State College. The Junior Olympics is run by USA Track and Field.

Corinne will be a sophomore at East Brunswick High School in September. She had a good freshman year, placing fifth in the GMC winter finals (varsity) and 15th overall (varsity) at the winter Group IV State meet. Her throw of 33-3 was the longest by a freshman girl among all the state group winter meets. She also throws the discus and javelin.

This summer, Kominkiewicz is a member of the World's Longest Throw track club, which includes many of the state's premier girl throwers, including state shot put champion Deanne Hahn of Brick.

Kominkiewicz's personal best throws are: 34-8.5 in the shot put; 88-8 in the discus and 91-1 in the javelin.
