      Global-warming legislation will mean new tax
            This letter is in response to Eddie Konczal's letter to the editor, "Congress: Follow N.J.'s Global-Warming Lead" (Sentinel, July 26), praising the New Jersey Legislature for passing the Global Warming Response Act. He also uses the newly revised term for global warming, which is global climate change.

      Prescription and over-the-counter drugs can be just as dangerous as illegal drugs
            It has been three-and-a-half years since my son, Jason, died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs that he was abusing. He was 19 years old and in college studying to be a pharmacist. If that isn't ironic enough, as his mother, I had what I believed to be a safety net - I work for a substance abuse prevention organization.

      Loyal historian understands debt owed ancestors
            I attended a Monroe Township Council meeting on July 30. A member of the public attacked the credentials of our township historian, John Katerba, because of his assessment of the probable location of the Bethel Indian village. I know John personally, and he has only acted in the best interest of the residents of Monroe past, present and future.
