      Jersey Shore Tides win ABCCL championship
            The Jersey Shore Tides won the Atlantic Baseball Confederation Collegiate League (ABCCL) Championship in a hard-fought three-game series against the Toms River Black Sox. The Tides just came off a sweep of the Protocall Starz in the second round, dominating the Starz, 9-1, in the opening game, and 13-2 to complete the sweep.

      Nice variety of fish making appearances locally
            Fishing remains solid, producing plenty of weakfish in the Raritan Bay. Sandworms and peanut bunker are choice baits. On the Staten Island side, schools of peanut bunker are keeping plenty of small bluefish in the bay - enough to wear you out. On the Jersey side, there's still good fluke fishing reported from Keansburg to the Sandy Hook Channel.

      Sports Shorts
            The 12U East Brunswick American All-Star team finished their season with a spectacular 6-4 come-from-behind win in extra innings against the top-seeded Manalapan Bombers. East Brunswick went 5-0 in the tournament and took home the championship trophy. The team had a great season and will be playing in the CJBL in the fall.
