The 12U East Brunswick American All-Star team finished their season with a spectacular 6-4 come-from-behind win in extra innings against the top-seeded Manalapan Bombers. East Brunswick went 5-0 in the tournament and took home the championship trophy. The team had a great season and will be playing in the CJBL in the fall.

Teams are being formed for the Middlesex County parks and Recreation Department's Fall Slo-Pitch Softball Leagues. Men's single and doubleheader game leagues begin play in August and September. Rosters and payments are now being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Up to five team members may be non-county residents. Deadline for roster and payment is Aug. 10. Opening day is scheduled for late August, and games are scheduled throughout September and October, and into November, depending on rainouts and playoff schedules.

The men's single-game league plays at 6:45 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and is limited to 16 teams. Opening day is Aug. 27.

The men's doubleheader-game league starts at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with second games to follow immediately after. This league is limited to eight teams; opening day is Sept. 4.

All games are played at Thomas Edison Park in Edison or Warren Park in Woodbridge. Entrance fee is $330, with an additional $80 refundable forfeit fee. Umpire fees are $20 per team, per game.

The ladies slo-pitch softball league games start at 10:30 a.m. or 11:45 a.m. on Sundays and are played at Warren Park. Opening day is Aug. 26. The entrance fee is $155, plus an $80 refundable forfeit fee. Space is limited to eight teams.
