      B'nai B'rith couples will meet for dinner
            The B'nai B'rith Ketubah Married Couples Unit (age 40-plus) will meet for dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 19 at Dusal's Italian Restaurant, 3300 Route 27, Kendall Park section of South Brunswick. The cost of the dinner will be divided evenly among those attending. Prospective members are welcome.

      Pavers to be installed at E.B. veterans memorial
            The township of East Brunswick is taking orders for new granite walkway pavers to be installed at the East Brunswick Veterans Monument and dedicated at the township's annual Veterans Day observance. Individuals may purchase a 4-by-4-inch black granite paver that will line the Veterans Walk of Honor.

      Historical panel to sell Macy's shopping passes
            The Jamesburg Historical Association will participate in the Macy's Shop for a Cause fundraiser to be held at all Macy's nationwide from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Oct. 13. The one-day-only shopping event was created to support local nonprofit organizations. The historical association will sell Macy's shopper passes for $5 each.

            The Raritan Bay Medical Center Old Bridge Auxiliary will sponsor a fundraising Socks Sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 20 in Auxiliary Hall, lower level of the Medical Arts Building, adjacent to the hospital's Old Bridge division, off Ferry Road, between routes 9 and 18.

      Hebrew-speakers club schedules two meetings
            The next meetings of the Chug Ivrit club for intermediate and advanced Hebrew speakers will take place at 10 a.m. on Aug. 19 and 11 a.m. on Sept. 9 at private homes in the Highland Park/Edison area.             CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Middlesex County is looking for volunteers to advocate in Family Court on behalf of abused and neglected children who have been removed from their homes by the state Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS) and placed in foster care. Training, ongoing support and supervision are provided.

      DWI patrols beefed up
            EAST BRUNSWICK - The township Department of Public Safety will participate in a federally funded program that targets driving while intoxicated violations. The "Over the Limit, Under Arrest" program will be in operation statewide from Aug. 17 through Sept. 3. The program is funded through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
