      On the importance of enforcing all the rules
            I t is appropriate that the Milltown Police Department is aggressively addressing the speeding issues in town. I encourage the department and the Borough Council to help enforce all the rules that Milltown made to make our community a safe environment in which to live and visit.

      Monroe acted quickly, created proper memorial
            With the recent sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 tragedy, I, like many Americans, have been thinking about the horror of that day. More than anything, I hope that the survivors of this tragedy are healing and finding comfort in the care and concern of their families, friends and communities.

      Substance abuse remains pervasive in schools, but students are aware of the dangers
            The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University recently released its 2007 "National Survey of American Attitudes on Substance Abuse XII: Teens and Parents" with a press release stating that 80 percent of America's high school students attend schools "infested with drugs.

      Solid fiscal planning benefits residents
            All over New Jersey it seems the No. 1 complaint among homeowners is high property taxes. As a resident of Monroe, I admit I can't complain. Monroe consistently has one of the lowest tax rates in the county. The fact is directly attributable to our township government, led by Mayor Richard Pucci.

      Why would boro pay for removal of resident's tree?
            Iwas shocked to hear that Borough Councilman Mike Skarzynski introduced a resolution to have taxpayer money used to remove a tree from the property of one of our residents. There are a number of things that concern me about this issue, especially since this councilman wants to be elected Milltown's mayor.

      Baroni, Goodwin, Bushman will continue to work for reform
            Bill Baroni possesses a sense of integrity and honesty that is rarely seen among politicians today. We need his leadership in the Statehouse to continue to enact reforms. He is also running with two more reformers, Tom Goodwin and Adam Bushman.
