      Dog park neglected, no longer fit for canines or humans
            When it opened, the East Brunswick dog park was highly praised by the administration, which took great credit for providing a needed service for the community. During the past summer, the park has been badly neglected. Maintenance is spotty at best. The water fountains leak, spreading the entire area with water and mud. Dogs urinate in the water and others lie in it.

      Impressed by Nothstein's knowledge, open mind
            Iam a Democrat and know that the re-election of Mayor Richard Pucci and his running mates is the likely outcome this fall. But I won't be voting for them. Many letters to the editor have extolled the leadership shown in getting Monroe to where it is today. But just because someone is good at one thing doesn't mean he or she is good at another.

      Senior center offers impressive array of programs, trips
            One of the most treasured facilities in Monroe is the senior center. It is well-run, and the wealth of programs and activities is outstanding. But most of all, the schedule of trips is extensive. Whereas many towns offer their seniors a trip every week or so, in Monroe there is a trip almost every single weekday.

      Mayor, council continue to support valuable rec agenda
            The Monroe Township Community Center offers an incredible variety of recreation programs for children and teens. All the basic sports, including baseball, softball and basketball, are represented, in addition to skateboarding and roller hockey. There are cheerleading classes, gymnastics and theater arts.
