Commuters should appreciate services
After reading the article "Commuters, Officials Talk About Issues" (Sentinel, Oct. 18) on line, all I could do was shake my head in amazement at the attitude of the Commuter Parking Advisory Committee.
Somehow I find it nearly inconceivable that the committee members do not appreciate how fortunate they are to have access to the terrific commuter services provided by East Brunswick.
I lived in East Brunswick for 43 years and commuted to New York City for the last 24 years. I admit that my commuting days ended some 10-12 years ago and that circumstances are probably somewhat different now, but I do not believe for one moment that Route 18 traffic is much different now than it was when I commuted.
I surely hope that a majority of commuters are not complaining, as are the committee members. I can vouch for the service and commitment that Lou Neely, who heads the parking utility, has to the township and to the commuters. He has always done his very best when it comes to public service.
A few years ago I moved to Brick, and I can say that I miss the convenience of the service offered by East Brunswick, as a commuter and as a user of offhours travel to New York.
Commuters and advisoryboard members ought to be more thankful for what they have.
