E.B. 15-year-olds charged in robbery of fellow teen

EAST BRUNSWICK - Two juveniles were arrested Sunday after they allegedly robbed another teenager in the parking lot of a grocery store.

According to police, two 15-year-old males, both township residents, and an unidentified third male held up the 17- year-old victim in the parking lot of the A&P store, Route 18, at 5:42 p.m.

The suspects reportedly told the victim to turn out his pockets. When the victim refused to comply and told the suspects to leave him alone, the suspects began hitting and kicking him, and knocked him to the ground, police said.

The suspects took the victim's hat and ran off toward Summerhill Road, with the victim chasing them.

Police responded to the store after a witness called to report observing the assault in the parking lot.

Upon arrival, patrol units located two of the suspects on Summerhill Road. The two were arrested, with charges of robbery and simple assault pending, police said. Both were released to the custody of their parents.

Police are continuing the investigation to identify the third suspect.

The victim was treated at the scene by the East Brunswick Rescue Squad and was released to his parents.
