            Monmouth University's men's basketball team (2-8, 0-1 NEC) fell to the visiting Rider Broncs (7-4, 1-1 MAAC), 76- 55 on Saturday night in Boylan Gym. Rider expanded on its 15-point halftime lead by outscoring Monmouth 7-0 in the first three minutes of the second frame, to take a commanding 42-20 lead.

            Rutgers freshman Corey Chandler was named to the Big East Conference weekly men's basketball honor roll Monday. The guard averaged 19.0 points and 6.0 rebounds on the week for the Scarlet Knights, including a 23-point, eight-rebound performance on national television vs. No. 1 North Carolina Sunday evening.

            The Monroe U13 Lady Falcons improved to 3-0 in North Brunswick League play with a victory over Battle Basketball. Monroe scored a season-high 55 points with all eleven girls contributing on the offensive end. Jackie Racine (12 points), Victoria Clayton (10 points) and Christina Felice (nine points) led the Monroe offensive attack.

      Even with the bad weather, the fishing continues
            There's been plenty of serious fishing going on. Just before the rain, snow and gale-force winds last weekend, many anglers were squeezing in a few last trips for the year.
