      Plenty of action highlights O.B. wrestling win
           JEFF GRANIT staff Above: Old Bridge's Conor Hayes puts J.P. Stevens' Chris Campione in a headlock during their 103-pound bout, as Hayes went on to pin Campione in the second period of the match. Right: Old Bridge's Joey Dunn pushes down the head of J.P. Stevens' Jesse Sattler during their 145-pound bout. Sattler eventually won a 5-3 decision over Dunn. In the team competition, Old Bridge narrowly defeated Stevens, 35-28. The team has some time off during the holidays before hitting the mats against Edison in a dual meet next weekend.

      Young Sayreville hoops squad off to a good start
            With two victories in its first three contests, the Sayreville High School girls basketball team is off to a good start as it seeks to improve on last winter's 13-11 record. The youthful Bombers opened the campaign by jumping to a 10-2 lead against North Brunswick, but 21 turnovers took their toll and the Bombers ended up losing by nine points.

      Sports Shorts
            The East Brunswick Comets U9 boys soccer team recently completed a fantastic inaugural fall season, finishing with a record of 7-2-1 in MNJYSA's flight 2. Despite playing together for only a few months, the squad looked like seasoned veterans during the latter part of their schedule, winning their last five games.
