      Tickets available Jan. 4 for library puppetry fest
            Two professional puppetry shows are planned for The East Brunswick Friends of the Library's eighth annual Phyllis Noar Puppetry Festival set for Feb. 10 and 24 at the East Brunswick Library, Jean Walling Civic Center. Tickets for the event will go on sale Jan. 4.

      Actors sought for Neil Simon comedy
            Open auditions for the Villagers Theatre's upcoming production of Neil Simon's "Brighton Beach Memoirs" are set for 7 p.m. on Jan. 9 and 10 at the theater, 415 DeMott Lane, Somerset section of Franklin. Children under age 18 will be read during the first hour. Callbacks are planned for 7 p.m. on Jan. 13. Auditions will consist of readings from the script.

      Math club and puppet show coming to library
            The South River Public Library, 55 Appleby Ave., will sponsor two upcoming events. The Pi Eaters' Math Club will meet from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturdays beginning in January. Middle school and high school students who are interested in mathematics, or who need some math help, are invited to join.

      Milltown Lions Club plans Spaghetti Dinner
            The Milltown Lions Club will hold a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser from 5-8 p.m. on Jan. 18 at the Milltown Senior Citizens Center, Violet Terrace. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, $3 for children. Wine, beer and soft drinks will be available at a cash bar.

      Central PTA schedules Tricky Tray at EBHS
            The Central Elementary School PTA will sponsor a Tricky Tray fundraiser beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 11 in the cafeteria at East Brunswick High School (EBHS), 380 Cranbury Road. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Grand prize will be a 46-inch HD/LCD television. Other prizes will include passes to Walt Disney World, Orlando, Fla.

            The East Brunswick Public Library Book Discussion Group will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 9 and 1 p.m. on Jan. 10 at the library, Jean Walling Civic Center. Topic of discussion will be the nonfiction work "Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission To Promote Peace … One School at a Time" by Greg Mortensen and David Oliver Relin.

      Philomusica Choir auditions begin Jan. 7
            Philomusica Choir, an East Brunswickbased auditioned community choir, is seeking singers with good reading skills for its May 31 and June concerts featuring Haydn's "Requiem" and Mozart's "Dominican Vespers" with soloists and orchestra.

      Book discussion on tap at Jamesburg Public Library
            The Adult Book Club of the Jamesburg Public Library and Cultural Center will discuss the novel "Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant," by Anne Tyler.             The SAT prep course for East Brunswick High School juniors preparing for the May 3 administration of the tests will be offered at the high school beginning Feb. 4. Parents of juniors should register by Jan. 9 to take a practice SAT on Jan. 12.

      Band parents to sponsor Atlantic City bus trip
            The Spotswood High School Band Parents Association will offer a Jan. 20 bus trip to the Showboat Casino, Atlantic City. The bus will depart at 11 a.m. from the high school parking lot, Summerhill Road. Return is set for approximately 9 p.m.

            Neill Hartley of the American Historical Theatre will appear as author Washington Irving and the character Ichabod Crane in "Ichabod Crane, Washington Irving and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow," a one-man, living-history presentation set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 12 at the Spotswood Public Library, 548 Main St.

      Voter-registration drive scheduled at library
            The East Brunswick Public Library, Jean Walling Civic Center, will hold a voterregistration drive from Jan. 8-15. All eligible New Jersey residents who are as yet unregistered are encouraged to visit the library to sign up, especially if they want to take part in the state's upcoming primary election.

            Raritan Bay Medical Center will sponsor an Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Caregivers Support Group meeting from 6:30-8 p.m. on Jan. 7 in Auxiliary Hall C, lower level of the Medical Arts Building, adjacent to the hospital's Old Bridge division, Ferry Road, between routes 9 and 18.
