      Educate, embrace young people before punishing them
            This is in response to the letter to the editor from Steven Liga ("Supports Underage Drinking Ordinance") and the related article on page 8 ("Police Report Gives Brief Account of Investigation), both of which appeared in the Feb. 7 issue of the Sentinel.

      Some could lose homes due to high taxes
            At a time when people are losing their homes to foreclosure, when others are having a difficult time paying their bills, when necessities such as food and electricity are difficult to maneuver, why not raise our dog-licensing fees to add to this strain? Why?

      Time was right for mental-health parity in N.J.
            Assembly Bill A-2512 was to be a cost-saving measure and would have been good for the fiscal health of the state budget and the state economy. It was created to reduce current costs, shifting these costs from the private sector to the public sector, thereby saving the state money and expanding treatment access without relying on additional state resources.

      Encourages residents to consider running for school board
            On Tuesday, April 15, voters in 90 percent of the state's school districts will select more than 1,500 men and women to serve on their local boards of education. For citizens with a sincere interest in the education of their community's children, it's not too late to consider school board candidacy.
