      Alumni sought to mark Irwin School anniversary
            A spring celebration will observe the upcoming 50th anniversary of Irwin Elementary School, East Brunswick. The anniversary committee plans to make a video of Irwin alumni sharing stories about their time at the school. Photos, artifacts and items from Irwin through the years are sought for display in the school's front showcase.

      OLV Seniors to sponsor five-day Wildwood trip
            Our Lady of Victories Seniors will offer a five-day, four-night trip to Wildwood from Sept. 22-26. Cost is $399 per person and includes bus transportation; hotel accommodations with four full breakfasts and dinners; and side trips to an Atlantic City casino, a whale-watching boat ride and a visit to historic Cape May.

      Applications accepted for NJMSC scholarships
            The New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium (NJMSC), Sandy Hook, and its New Jersey Sea Grant college program are now accepting applications for Stew Tweed Fisheries and Aquaculture Scholarships. The $1,000 and $1,500 scholarships will be awarded in mid-May.

            The Spotswood Education Foundation, which awards grants to local schools for innovative programs, will host a Lucky Leap Year Casino Night from 7-11 p.m. on Feb. 29 at Spotswood Knights of Columbus Hall, Crescent Avenue. Craps, roulette, black jack and poker games will be played.

            American Legion Post No. 214 will sponsor its annual St. Patrick's Day and St. Joseph's Day Dinner from 2-6 p.m. on March 9 at the post home, 264 Whitehead Ave., South River. Guests may select a corned beef or ham dinner. Donation is $8 for adults, $4 for children under age 10.

      Plays will shed light on race and identity
            The Performing Arts Department at Middlesex County College, Edison, will present two upcoming one-act plays featuring pointed observations about race and identity.
