      Don't take out tax frustrations on students
            It makes me very nervous to think what might happen to our children, our schools and the value of our homes if this conservative school budget does not pass. With everything I am reading in the newspapers about the township's budget and how much our taxes are going to go up, I fear that all this publicity is going to hurt the youngsters.

      Township must get itself out of deep financial hole
            The powers that be in East Brunswick have to stop the township going by the wayside and stop increasing the municipal-tax rate. The way things are going, the residents of East Brunswick are going to hear this every year, since the state and township are trying to figure out what to do, and nothing ever gets done.

      Chief thanks freeholders
            The Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders deserves recognition for their commitment to the law enforcement community in the county. The freeholders recently approved a $1 million expansion to the county police training facility. This, coupled with construction of a new firing range in Woodbridge, has greatly enhanced our law enforcement capabilities.

      Simmens stands for schools, youngsters, community
            On April 15 I am voting to re-elect Todd Simmens to the East Brunswick Board of Education. I have known Todd for many years, and I have had the privilege of serving on the district's Policy Committee with Todd for the past two years, both when Todd was board vice president, and this past year when he served as board president.

            The issue of April 3 will be the final edition that will feature letters discussing candidates in the April 15 school elections. All letters must be received prior to noon Friday, March 28 for consideration in the April 3 issue.
