      Democrats unite behind Stahl; avoid primary contest

      Mayor William Neary will step aside after 12 years in charge of East Brunswick, saying it's time for someone with fresh ideas to take his place. Neary's announcement opened the way for the township's Democratic Organization to back Councilman David Stahl in his bid for mayor.       Three seasoned Monroe Township Board of Education members are vying to keep their seats, while a newcomer looks to grab one. Voters will decide who gets the three, three-year terms in the April 15 election.
