      African Violet Show planned for April 18, 19
            The Central Jersey African Violet Society will hold its 29th annual African Violet Show and Sale from 3-7 p.m. on April 18 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 19 at First Baptist Church, 232 Main St. (Route 79), Matawan. The event will feature judged plants and interpretive designs. Unusual African violets and other gesneriads will be offered for sale.

      Family Bingo, Pizza Party set at synagogue
            Temple B'nai Shalom, Fern and Old Stage roads, East Brunswick, will host a Family Bingo and Pizza Party from4-6 p.m. on April 27. Families, parents and children of all ages are invited.All are welcome. The eventwill feature prizes for all bingo winners. Cost is $5 per family.

            The East Brunswick High School (EBHS) Boys Volleyball Booster Club will hold a fundraising car wash from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 13 at the high school, Cranbury Road. Cost is $5 for cars, $7 for sport utility vehicles and vans.

            A Prodigal Foundation Inc. benefit for children affected by cancer is planned for 2 p.m. on April 12 at the Woodbridge Bowling Center, 346 Main St. Bowlers of all skill levels are welcome. The event will feature three games of bowling (no-tap format), food, a tricky tray and a chance to win a 50-inch, flatpanel HDTV.

      Veterans will share WW II experiences
            World War II veterans Fred Niclas, William Stephens and Frank Maltese will be the guest speakers at an event set for 2- 4 p.m. on April 13 at the East Brunswick Historical Society Museum, 78 Milltown Road.
