      Earth Day fest planned at Cheesequake Park

      Boating-safety exam scheduled for April 20
            Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 2-1, 167 Main St., Sayreville, will conduct a Boating Safety Test-Out Examination at 8:30 a.m. on April 20. Individuals who take the exam must have been born prior to 1979 and certify that they have at least 100 hours of boating experience.

            The New Jersey Community Water Watch will join with the Lawrence Brook Watershed Partnership to sponsor a cleanup of sections of the Raritan River and the Lawrence Brook from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 19. Participants will meet at 9:30 a.m. in the Loew's Theatre parking lot, Route 1, north of Route 18, for registration and breakfast and to listen to guest speakers.

      Garage-sale proceeds to aid animals at shelter
            Sayreville Pet Adoption Center, 1400 Main St., will hold a Giant Garage Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 20 in the center's parking lot. Donations of items for the sale will be accepted at the shelter from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 18 and 19 only (no exceptions). Clothing, linens and shoes will not be accepted. Proceeds will benefit the pets housed at the shelter.
