      South River track teams are a work in progress
            The South River High School spring boys and girls track teams feature plenty of young athletes, so both squads are looking toward bright futures. Coach Sara Stout noted that nearly half of the program is composed of underclassmen who are showing steady improvement thanks to a strong work ethic.

      Good weather brings anglers out from winter hibernation
            The weather has been fantastic, and so has flounder fishing in the Raritan Bay. Anglers have been picking away steadily at flounder all week. Chris from Crabby's Bait & Tackle in Keyport reported an excellent buildup of winter flounder in the Back Bay around the ammo pier and the 3 can.

      O.B. volleyball off to a great start
      Knights' record was 9-2 heading into this week's play
            The Old Bridge High School boys volleyball team will be looking for its 10th win of the season this afternoon when it visits Southern Regional. The Knights, who went 21-11 a year ago, are off to a 9-2 start including impressive wins over Hunterdon Central, Hillsborough and South Brunswick.

            Parade Magazine officially released its 32nd All-America team on Sunday in newspapers across the country. Rutgers women's basketball saw its five incoming freshmen land on the first three squads. April Sykes (Crawford, Miss.) was named to the first team after averaging 25.5 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists for East Oktibbeha High School this past season.
