      Chargers softball on the path to the playoffs
      Spotswood is 6-4, thanks to stellar offenseive play
            With six wins in its first 10 games, the Spotswood High School softball team appears on its way to securing its second successive NJSIAA Central Jersey Group II Tournament berth. The Chargers have parlayed strong pitching and some timely hitting into victories over South River, Highland Park, Dunellen, Bloomfield and Metuchen (twice).

            Two-time Rutgers All-America running back Ray Rice was selected in the second round of the 2008 NFLDraft by the Baltimore Ravens. The nation's second-leading rusher in 2007, Rice rushed for 2,012 yards and scored 25 touchdowns in 2007 to help lead Rutgers to its third straight bowl and second consecutive bowl victory.

      Sayreville girls track and field team off to a running start
      Bombers have won four out of five dual meets thus far
            A well-rounded Sayreville High School girls spring track team will be looking for its fifth dual-meet victory when it meets South Plainfield on Tuesday. The Bombers are off to a 4-1 start thanks to triumphs over New Brunswick, Colonia, JFK and Monroe. Sayreville's lone loss came against Woodbridge.

            The Raritan ValleyYMCA is now registering for summer day camp. The new YMCA, located at 144 Tices Lane in East Brunswick offers variety, convenience and affordability. A traditional day camp program will be offered for children ages 5-13 at the YMCA's facility, which includes indoor and outdoor settings.
