      Student performers deserve courtesy, respect
            Once again, as a proud grandparent, and as a former Board of Education member, I attended another delightful East Brunswick Public Schools orchestra concert in the high school auditorium. The district is most fortunate to have an excellent new supervisor of arts education, Jeffrey Lesser.

      Why stop at just Middlesex County?
            With reference to Taj Ahmad's letter to the editor ("Take the 'Sex' Out of Middlesex County' ") that appeared in the May 8 issue of the Sentinel, I agree completely. May I suggest that the elimination of "sex" from county names be made statewide.

      'Middlesex' did not offend Founding Fathers, Victorians
            This is in response to the letter to the editor titled "Take the 'Sex' Out of 'Middlesex County' " (Sentinel, May 8), in the sincere hope that it was written as a jest. The author suggested calling it "Middle County" because, in his opinion, "the word 'sex' in the current name looks weird and does not look appropriate in our society.

      Students must repay lunch IOU but have no say in selection
            My daughter came home from school today with some interesting news. She forgot her lunch money, and apparently under the East Brunswick school district's new money saving/IOU-discouraging policy, students are only allowed to receive a cheese sandwich for lunch if they forget their lunch money.

      Create more interest, change name to 'Middlesexy'
            I was intrigued to read that an area resident was suggesting changing the name of our county ("Take the 'Sex' Out of 'Middlesex County,' " Letters to the Editor, Sentinel, May 8). He suggested a name change to "Middle" in order to get "sex" out of the name because it is not appropriate to our society.
