            Mrs. Karten, 85, of Old Bridge, died April 26, 2008, at home. A professional singer, she was an adult-education voice teacher with the community schools in Old Bridge, South River and Spotswood, and performed with Plays-inthe Park, Edison, and other community theaters.

            Dr. Schwartz, 80, of East Brunswick, died April 26, 2008. Prior to his retirement in July, he maintained a private dental practice in Rahway for more than 40 years. He was a professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Medical School/New Jersey Dental School, Newark, for more than 20 years.
