Increases not what taxpayers sought at polls
Are these the changes that the taxpayers of South River were looking for in the last November election: Large increases in water, electric and tax rates. And no help in sight. Now the taxpayers are told that outside consultants recommend that we spend $23 million to revamp government buildings. Were they not revamped just a few years ago?
Mayor Raymond Eppinger states that he would like a town meeting in September to have input from the taxpayers. I suggest that the meeting be held sooner. Would it not be better to consult with taxpayers before paying more money to outside consultants? Why are we paying consultants on ways to spend money when it is stated that South River does not have extra money?
Mr. Eppinger, you don't go shopping with an empty pocketbook.
