Volunteers rate praise for success of gala

For the past three years the Spotswood Cultural and Heritage Commission has worked diligently to create ways to celebrate the 100 years of incorporation of our borough. The results of all these efforts are memories that will linger long after the food at our large celebration at the Garden Falls/Stone Museum is gone, and the T-shirts and hats have faded and been discarded.

We are especially proud of the lasting monuments to our history that will remain after this year has past. Foremost is the brick walkway in front of Borough Hall, the first monument dedicated to the general history of Spotswood. We also installed historical markers throughout the borough noting the locations of significant 19thand early-20th-century buildings.

But most of all we want to thank the countless volunteers who helped promote our efforts, gave generously of their time, helped us communicate with the world and purchased merchandise, ad space, bricks, Christmas tree ornaments at the other fundraisers we ran. We particularly thank you if you came out to the Garden Falls/Stone Museum on Sunday, July 20, and participated in the largest gathering of Spotswood residents ever assembled.

Videotapes of the celebration event will be available for sale shortly, as will the 2008 edition of our Christmas ornaments. Keep an eye on our usual means of communication for further details.
