Public must be protected from gas-price gougers
Iwant to make residents aware what is happening right in our own neighborhoods.
Last week I went to a local gas station, where they were selling unleaded regular gas for $3.85 per gallon (cash price). I gave the attendant $40 cash for the unleaded, and when the transaction was complete my gas tank had taken 10 gallons of gas. If you do the math, $40 divided by 10 is not $38.50 — the attendant had charged me $4 a gallon. My husband asked for a receipt, but it wasn't itemized. It just said that we paid $40. When my husband pointed out that the math didn't work out, the attendant apologized for the "oversight" and gave us back $2.
Last night I went to another local gas station, where they were selling unleaded regular gas for a cash price of $3.81 per gallon. The same thing happened. I gave $40 cash, and my gas tank took 10 gallons. Only this time when I said something to the attendant, he told me to talk to his boss who was not on the premises. I requested an itemized receipt, which he gave me, but he wouldn't give me back the money he overcharged me.
These stations need to be fined, and hopefully they will not continue to take advantage of their customers.
