      E.B. junior Legion squad ends season at district playoffs
            East Brunswick's American Legion junior team completed a successful summer schedule with a 22-5 mark and a trip to the District III playoffs. With a lineup full of varsity hopefuls for East Brunswick next spring, coach Phil Granito's junior Legion entry had a strong regular season, going 19-1 to qualify for the districts.

      Local residents qualify for national soccer tourney
      Team will go to Walt Disney World in January to compete
            Four local youths entered a three-onthree soccer tournament in July on a lark and ended up qualifying for the national Kick It 3v3 1990 division finals at Walt Disney World in January. Sean Holton of East Brunswick and three Old Bridge residents, Brenden Bernhard, Joe Brisindi and Matt Guzzo, all played in the East Brunswick Regional Tournament in July.

      Sports Shorts
            The Sayrewood South Baseball 9 & 10 year old District team became the 2008 District 10 Champions on Monday night, July 21. The team went undefeated (5-0) in the first round of the tournament. In the double-elimination second round, they defeated Metuchen in the first game. Then after losing to Clark, they needed to win three straight to win the championship.
