Congressman should do the right thing, sign Lyme bill

Thank you to the East Brunswick Public Library for its kind assistance with the screening of "Under Our Skin." The film addressed the failure of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and insurance companies to acknowledge the seriousness of Lyme disease and its devastating effects on patients. The room was filled to capacity, with a waiting list of more than 40 people.

The audience members were adults who are ill with Lyme disease and family members of children ill with Lyme disease. The sick ranged from young children to senior citizens. People came from out of county and out of state to see the film.

Shame on Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. (D-6) for his refusal to sign bill HR 741. This bill would put $100 million into research, education and treatment of Lyme and tickborne illness. He is the only person on the committee who did not sign, and as he is the chairman of the House of Representatives Subcommittee on Health, his refusal to sign kills the bill.

Call Congressman Pallone and tell him to do the right thing. Call Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) and tell him to pressure Congressman Pallone to do the right thing. Sign the bill.
