The Sayrewood South Baseball 9 & 10 year old District team became the 2008 District 10 Champions on Monday night, July 21. The team went undefeated (5-0) in the first round of the tournament. In the double-elimination second round, they defeated Metuchen in the first game. Then after losing to Clark, they needed to win three straight to win the championship. They beat Sayreville and then outscored Clark 28-8 in the final two games to win the crown. The members of the team are Zachary Attainese, Eamonn Brace, Michael Cistone, Robert D'Acunto, Vincent Donofrio, Jimmy Freel, Augie Garbellotto, Nicholas King, Steven Liebowitz, Chris McNulty, Connor Romano, Dylan Scire and Steven Strom. The team is coached by Jude Attainese, Dennis Scire and Eugene Donofrio.

Milltown Little League fall baseball tryouts and in-person registration will be held on Aug. 23 on the Major League Field at Borough Park.

Minor league tryouts will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. Tryouts are mandatory for all players who were in the Midget Division in the spring of 2008.

Major league tryouts will be held from 10:30 until noon. Tryouts are mandatory for all players who were in the Minor Division in the spring of 2008. (Please note that players who try out and are accepted into the majors for fall ball must still try out for the majors for the spring 2009 season). Players should wear appropriate pants, shoes and protective gear.
