      Resident found Holt meeting informative
            On the evening of Aug. 12, the residents of South River were given the opportunity to speak to U.S. Congressman Rush Holt in a Town Hall meeting held at the Borough Council chambers. A very gracious congressman gave an exhaustive list of accomplishments and also the shortcomings of the current, 110th U.S. Congress.

            I n their effort to create edgeof the-line humor for maximum audience interest, Dreamworks and Paramount Pictures have definitely crossed the line into offensiveness. They insist that the big summer movie "Tropic Thunder" is making fun of the "stop at nothing" attitude of actors and the entire filmmaking industry.

      N.Y.'s 'vandal cancer' seems to be spreading to N.J.
            Recently, I was invited to attend a daytime baseball game at the New York Mets' Shea Stadium with one of my sons and grandson. A beautiful sunshine day, and I was in fine company. We rode the bus from a local bus terminal to the Port Authority building in NYC. From there we boarded the No. 7 subway train for the remainder of the trip.

      Housing rules penalize companies for creating jobs
            New Jersey's Council on Affordable Housing (COAH) recently adopted revised rules that went into effect on June 2. While providing for affordable housing is a good cause, these changes will have a devastating impact on economic development efforts in New Jersey and discourage employers from growing jobs.
