      Returning soldiers deserve more respect
            My nephew, U.S. Army Sgt. Coleman Bean, died earlier this month. He was 25, and he took his own life. I've spent this week in New Jersey, where Coleman lived, helping his parents and brothers get through this terrible time. More than 300 people attended Coleman's memorial service in Milltown. Many of them were young men that Coleman had served with in the military.

      Couple thankful for help from firefighters, neighbors
            My wife and I have lived on Harrison Avenue in East Brunswick for 27 years. It has always been a wonderful place to call home and to raise our children. On Sunday, Aug. 11, we experienced one of a homeowner's worst nightmares — we had a fire in our home. No one was hurt, but the second floor was a total loss. So, now the process of rebuilding begins.

      Calvano, DeMarzo, Wendell running for right reasons in E.B.
            I am excited about our opportunity to elect new leadership in East Brunswick this November. I was always proud to watch Christi Calvano ask the tough questions while she served on council. She was always the only voice that made sense and tried to plan ahead, instead of only thinking about short-term projects.
