      RU football gets back on track against UConn
      Scarlet Knights hold on late to defeat Huskies; team is now 2-5 on the season
            Following two straight narrow defeats, many of the Rutgers football faithful felt the team was due to have things go their way for a change. Maybe it was time for quarterback Mike Teel to break out of his season-long slump, or time for Dom Natale to get his crack at running the team. Or perhaps the Scarlet Knights needed Tiquan Underwood to regain his 2007 form.

      Monroe field hockey on a roll headed into GMCT
            The Monroe High School field hockey team headed into Tuesday's Greater Middlesex Conference (GMC) Tournament game against Piscataway with an outstanding 13-1 mark and the heavily favored Falcons are expected to host a second round match this afternoon. The finals are set for tomorrow at Metuchen.

      OB girls soccer to meet S. Brunswick in GMCT
            The Old Bridge High School girls soccer team entered the Greater Middlesex Conference (GMC) Tournament with a five-game losing streak, but rebounded nicely to upend Colonia, 7-0, in a first-round matchup. The Knights will meet South Brunswick this afternoon in the second round.

            The Raritan Bay Cougars hosted the Franklin Warriors in week seven. The Pee Wees got a 24-7 win to bring their record to 7-0, and they are the Gold Division Champs. Jordan Fetterman put up two passing touchdowns, connecting with Daniel Grillo and Julanee Prince.
