Give V.A. proper funding for health care
      On Nov. 11, 2008, we honor more than 25 million living American veterans. As young men and women engage the enemy face-to-face thousands of miles away in the global war on terrorism, the thanks of a grateful nation should be reflected not only in saying thank you but also in giving VA the proper amount of funding to give all veterans the health care they have earned.

      Iam responding to the letter by Leo Surak ("Independent voters do disservice to country," Sentinel, Oct. 16) pertaining to independent voters and how "we" are not living up to our obligations as citizens. Since when is there an obligation to be a Democrat or a Republican?
