            As a senior at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, I am appalled by the Amethyst Initiative, the proposal by more than 100 college presidents to commence conversation on lowering the drinking age to 18.

      Gov't cannot rescue all who make mistakes
            Enough is enough with federal bailouts. No one put a gun to the head of reckless homebuyers, forcing them to purchase more house than they could afford. The same goes for the banks that made these bad loans. It's a simple principle: If I don't pay my mortgage, I expect to lose my house.

      Democrats have record of costly decisions
            East Brunswick Mayor William Neary stated in the Oct. 23 letter ("Mayor responds to criticism," Sentinel, Oct. 23) that he was proud of the Democrats' record. The record, as I review it, is nothing to be proud of. There were so many actions taken, which cost taxpayers so much money, that were prefaced with misinformation.
