            Members of the Monroe boys basketball team will carry heartfelt memories of the late Ryan Walp into this season. But the hope is that the best tribute the players can exhibit will be the way they conduct themselves on the court.

      E. Brunswick boys will rely upon many young players
      Hoops team coming off 4-17 campaign
            Thankfully, the East Brunswick boys basketball team can wipe the slate clean as it begins a new season following an uncharacteristic 4-17 record a year ago. The optimism is due, in part, to an infusion of young talent from a freshman team, which finished 21-3, and a junior varsity, which capped the season with a 16-7 record.

      Sayreville boys coming off 17-8 season, trip to playoffs
            With seven players back from a team that posted a 17-8 record a year ago, the Sayreville High School boys basketball team is looking to continue its winning ways. "Every year is a new year, and while we have a lot of talented players it will all depend on how they mesh together," coach Shawn Currie said.

      Sayreville bowlers look to defend TOC title
            The Sayreville High School boys bowling team is looking to pick up where it left off a year ago when the Bombers brought home the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions (TOC) title. Sayreville opened the season on Monday with a victory against Carteret and was slated to play White Division foe Colonia yesterday.

            Congratulations to the Raritan Bay Cougars Pee Wees, who defeated the New Jersey Giants by a score of 37-20 to advance as the first team in Old Bridge to the National Championship (Pop Warner Super Bowl) in Orlando, Fla. The Cougars started off with a 15-yard endaround by Daniel Grillo for a score.
