      Holiday gift-card campaign under way
            Due to the generosity of individuals, community volunteer groups, local businesses, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Brownie troops, the public schools, churches, religious organizations and various other civic organizations, the township of East Brunswick recently arranged for more than 120 families and senior citizens in the community to receive Thanksgiving food baskets.

            The Monroe Township Library is offering MyLibraryDV, a video-on-demand service created by Recorded Books, which allows Monroe Township Library cardholders to download free movies directly onto their home computers using their broadband Internet connection.

      Donations sought for First Rehab food drive
            First Rehab, 404 Main St., Suite A, Spotswood, is collecting nonperishable food items through Dec. 19. Donated food will benefit families in Spotswood, Jamesburg, Monroe, Milltown, East Brunswick and Helmetta. Contributions for the food drive may be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 18, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 19.

      B'nai B'rith couples plan holiday party
            The B'nai B'rith Ketubah Married Couples Unit (ages 40-plus) will hold its annual Hanukkah party at 1 p.m. Dec. 28 at a member's home in Holmdel. The event will feature a kosher deli luncheon and a gift exchange. Participants should bring a wrapped gift costing $10 or more.

      Sales at garden center to benefit drama club
            The Drama Club at Appleby School, Spotswood, is sponsoring a fundraiser through Dec. 24 at Allegiance Garden Center, 104 Main St., Helmetta. Supporters must present a fundraiser coupon when making a holiday purchase. The store will then donate 10 percent of each supporter's sale to the drama club.

            The St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church Parish Life Committee will sponsor a Breakfast With Santa 9 a.m.-noon Dec. 21 at St. Mary's School, 30 Jackson St., South River. Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, orange juice, milk and coffee.

            Chabad Jewish Center, 261 Gravel Hill Road, Monroe, will sponsor several upcoming holiday programs.       Horse-drawn carriage rides continue in N.B.
            New Brunswick City Market will present free horse-drawn holiday carriage rides leaving 6-9 p.m. Dec. 19 and 20 from the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 2 Albany St., or from The Heldrich, 10 Livingston Ave. The public is invited. Carriages will take participants on nostalgic rides through decorated downtown streets.
