            Mr. Griffin, 81, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Old Bridge and Spotswood, died Dec. 4, 2008, in Venice. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Dorothy Jean and Kathleen; and a son, James.

      Helen Elizabeth Hufnell Van Dorn
            Mrs. Van Dorn, 85, of Spotswood, died Nov. 13, 2008, at her daughter's home in Monroe. Prior to her retirement in 1986, she was employed as a school nurse at Metuchen High School. Her husband, Lyle E. Van Dorn Jr., died in 2002. Surviving are a son, Jonathan, and his wife, Katherine, of Bloomington, Ill.

      Stella Sophie Smolinski
            Mrs. Smolinski, 92, of Spotswood, died Dec. 2, 2008, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to her retirement in 1980, she was employed as a seamstress with Charles Komar and Sons, Spotswood. Her husband, Edward Smolinski, died in 1979.

            Mr. Brady, 37, of Hazlet, died Dec. 9, 2008, in Hazlet. He was a self-employed electrician for several years. He was predeceased by his father, John M. Brady Jr., in 1971.

      Stella C. Szulewski Halat
            Mrs. Halat, 87, of Middletown, died Dec. 11, 2008, at Care One at Holmdel. She resided in Spotswood for more than 20 years, prior to relocating to Middletown. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter V. Halat, in 1997; and a brother, Joseph Szulewski.

      David Eso
            Mr. Eso, 61, formerly of Jamesburg, died Dec. 8, 2008, in Water's Edge Nursing Home, Trenton. He was predeceased by his parents, Patsy and Jacob Eso Sr. Surviving are two brothers, Douglas Eso, and his wife, Janet, of North Carolina, and Jacob Eso Jr., and his wife, Cynthia, of Helmetta; a sister, Linda Petty, of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

      Helen M. Kucharski Capanna Dominiecki
            Mrs. Dominiecki, 83, of South River, died Dec. 9, 2008, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her first husband, Reginald Capanna, died in 1992, and a son-inlaw, Jude Zangardi, died in 2000. Surviving are her husband, John A. Dominiecki; two daughters, Caroline Zangardi of Dunmore, Pa.

      Philip Joseph Grossweiler
            Mr. Grossweiler, 93, of South River, died Dec. 8, 2008, in Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a supervisor and pipe fitter with Hercules Inc., Parlin section of Sayreville, where he worked for 37 years. His wife, Sophie Osowski Grossweiler, died in May.

      Tommaso Iadevaia
            Mr. Iadevaia, 86, of Ellicott City, Md., formerly of South River and Monroe, died Dec. 13, 2008, at home. He was the founder and owner of Tommaso Iadevaia and Sons Contracting Co., ultimately establishing the firm's Monroe nursery that he operated for 37 years before his retirement in 1993.

            Mr. Sabanos, 76, of Barnegat, formerly of Spotswood, died Dec. 9, 2008, in Southern Ocean Center, Manahawkin. He was a former member of the Spotswood Zoning Board of Adjustment. Surviving are his wife, Norma Mason- Sabanos of Barnegat; a son, Michael C.
