Family grateful for officials' response to fire
      On Sunday night, Dec. 21, at 11:45 p.m., we were awakened by the dreaded alarm of the smoke detector in the upper hallway of our home. After a check of the detector to be sure it was not malfunctioning, we did a quick search to locate the cause of the smoke.

Bank should look elsewhere for branch site
      It is disgraceful that Valley National Bank would consider demolishing an historic structure such as the Forney House in Milltown. The loss of such a building is a blow to the history and character of Milltown and the state of New Jersey as a whole.

Demise of Forney House distresses resident
      With a heavy heart, I read in a recent Sentinel that it appears the old Forney House is imminently destined for the wrecking ball despite the disastrous turn of events in the banking industry. Dr. Forney had not only been our family dentist when I was a child, but he and his wife, Rosemarie, were also friends of the family.
