Library Friends schedules trip, events
The Friends of the East Brunswick Library, Jean Walling Civic Center, will sponsor several upcoming trips and events.
A Meet the Author event is set for 7 p.m. Feb. 25 at the library. Michael Rockland, author of eleven books, will discuss his latest work, "The George Washington Bridge: Poetry in Steel." Rockland is a professor of American Studies at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, and has worked in film and television production. Discussion will include the author's adventures while writing his history of the landmark.
The Friends will sponsor its annual trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show on March 5. The bus will depart at 9 a.m. from the parking lot next to Kmart (behind the former Levitz Furniture store), Route 18, East Brunswick. Return is scheduled for approximately 5 p.m. Cost is $50 for Friends members, $56 for nonmembers, and includes bus, show admission, bus snack and gratuities. Early reservations are recommended. Checks may be made payable to East Brunswick Friends of the Library and mailed to 38 Harrison Ave., East Brunswick, NJ 08816. Name, address and phone number should be included with the check. The 35th annual Friends Book and Media Sale is planned for March 23-29 at the Brunswick Square Mall, Route 18, East Brunswick. The sale will open at 10 a.m. March 23 and continue during regular mall hours through March 29. Volunteers are needed throughout the week, especially for set up on March 22 and cleanup on March 30. Friends members may request a "call for volunteers" postcard to be mailed to them; prospective volunteers should indicate choice(s) of dates/times and return the preaddressed card. Nonmembers may obtain a volunteer postcard at the library circulation desk or on the Friends Web site, www.ebpl.org/friends/friendsBargain- Books.cfm.
