      Efforts of many led to success of event
            On Jan. 24 American Legion Post No. 253, Spotswood, sponsored our first Comedy Night. All proceeds were to help repair our roof, so I decided that this should be a joint event sponsored by all three groups of our legion — the veterans, the ladies auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion. We would all contribute the same effort.

      Cut school budget, not trash services
            Iwish our new mayor, David Stahl, a successful term in office; however, I think he is taking the wrong path by going to a once-a-week garbage collection. Anyone who uses the local roads knows that they are never swept, and a once-a-week collection will just lead to more litter being dumped from vehicles.

      Governing body could have done more to save Forney House
            In response to Mayor Bradford's letter to the editor, "Elected Officials Do Not Have 'Clout' to Supersede the Law" (Sentinel, Feb. 5), I agree that elected officials should act lawfully. However, it is not the case that the mayor and Borough Council were unable to intercede to save the Forney House and Clinic.
