Once-a-week pickup savings not worth it

Iwould like to voice my opinion about the once-a-week garbage pickup Mayor David Stahl is proposing.

I read that this would reduce the average tax per house by $20- $30 a year for a homeowner — that's a savings of about 50 cents a week. I ask the people of East Brunswick to do the math and see if they come up with the same amount of savings per week.

If that is correct, I'd rather have the twice-a-week pickup that we have now. By going to the mayor's plan we would have more rodents eating in our garbage pails and have more garbage on the streets.

We have a very high property tax now in East Brunswick. I am sure there are other ways to save us money. The mayor should take a look at school taxes and cut spending in that department. Freeze wages for town employees, etc.

I hope I did my math right.
