Mr. Janas, 89, of the Melrose section of Sayreville, died Feb. 4, 2009, in Barbara E. Cheung Memorial Hospice, Edison. Prior to his retirement in 1986, he was employed for 40 years as a carpenter through the International Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, Milltown. Surviving are his wife, Stella Pelczar Janas; four sons, Joseph S., Paul and Edward Janas, all of Melrose, and Raymond Janas, and his wife, Susan, of Sayreville; a brother, Theodore Janas of North Miami, Fla.; three sisters, Sally Hoff of Melrose, and Teckla Kawelski and Gertrude Spezzi, both of the Parlin section of Sayreville; and two grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy. Interment was in the church cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin.
