      Councilman apologizes for signing letter

Dominick Turitto Sr. recently wrote a letter to the editor in which he expressed his opinions on the outgoing school board member and the current candidates ("Same Old, Same Old on Spotswood Board of Education," Sentinel, April 2).

His letter got the attention of several and a response ("Applaud Those Who Serve in More Than One Area," Letters to the Editor, Sentinel, April 9) from the Spotswood mayor and Borough Council.

At the time I was as disappointed as those around me with the letter's content and included my name with those.

I write this to apologize for doing so. To blast someone for expressing his or her point of view, personal or otherwise, spits in the face of what our Constitution is based on. While I may not agree with his opinion, he is certainly entitled to it, and I should have known better.

So if you are reading this, please accept my apology, for we are all only human.
