Honesty is alive and well and living in East Brunswick

My husband and I have lived in East Brunswick for more than 30 years. I want to share an amazing experience I had recently.

One evening after running around to do various daily chores in East Brunswick, I suddenly realized that I had lost my pocketbook. I panicked and went to look for it at various places I had visited. Assuming that I had lost it for good, I cancelled all credit-card accounts and planned to visit the Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) the next day with my husband to get a new driver's license.

The next day while waiting at the MVC (their computer system was down), I suddenly realized that I had also visited the East Brunswick Public Library the previous day. So instead of continuing to wait at the MVC, I rushed to the library.

To my surprise, someone had returned my pocketbook to the front desk. Apparently, I dropped it from my car when I opened the car door to drop the books in the book-return box in the parking lot. Some honest person picked it up and put it on top of the box. Then another honest person saw it and brought it to the front desk. All the contents were intact. The library tried to call me, but they had my old phone number.

In spite of the hard economic times, honesty still exists in East Brunswick.

I sincerely thank those honest individuals and the library staff.
