            Normally, you would expect a program embarking on its first year of varsity competition to be looking for nothing more than respectability. Monroe Township High School's initial season participating in girls lacrosse has gained more than respectability. It has thrived.

      EBHS lacrosse hopes to regain momentum
            Matt Severino, in his fourth season as head coach for East Brunswick High School's boys lacrosse team, has watched his program grow each year. So when the Bears vaulted out of the gate with a 4-1 record, including a win over one of the perennial top teams in the state, St. Joseph of Metuchen, perhaps thoughts that 2009 might be a rebuilding year were premature.

            The East Brunswick Baseball League will host a free Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition for area youth Saturday, May 9, at East Brunswick's Manager's Field, Dunhams Corner Road. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m., the contest at 9 a.m. Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball.
