Senate commended for passing Serve America Act

On behalf of our 1.4 million members in the Garden State, AARP New Jersey applauds the Senate for passing the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act. New Jerseyans should know that both Sens. Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez voted in favor of the bill.

The bill will strengthen and expand civic engagement and volunteer opportunities to include social services, environment, health, care giving, nurturing, mentoring, intergenerational solutions, education, economic development and community development.

AARP is particularly pleased that the bill will improve service opportunities for persons age 50 and over so that they can apply a lifetime of acquired skills to help remedy a range of service needs.

Thank you, Senators, for showing your support.
