Kick Cancer event to aid Embrace Kids

The third annual Joanne J. Amato Kick Cancer fundraiser to benefit the Embrace Kids Foundation, New Brunswick, is set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. June 7 at Heavenly Farms, Dunhams Corner and Cranbury roads, East Brunswick.

The event, which is organized and sponsored by Special Teams Solutions, will feature kicking, snapping and passing coaches, and NFL and college-football stars sharing their knowledge of the game, expertise, skill and technique with young football players ages 8-17. Fundamentals of kicking, punting, passing, drills, tips and competition also will be on the agenda.

There will be a silent auction, music and food. An awards and closing ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m.

Registration fee for the football clinic is a minimum $50 donation to the Embrace Kids Foundation.

Kick Cancer is dedicated to the memory of late East Brunswick resident Joanne J. Amato, B.S.N., R.N.C., a pediatric and infertility nurse who dedicated her life to the well-being and care of children. Before her death from ovarian cancer in 2005, Amato helped thousands of children and their families through her work at Margaret Hague Hospital, Saint Peter's University Hospital, the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and Reproductive Medicine Associates of New Jersey. Amato was the mother-in-law of Lee McDonald, founder of Special Teams Solutions and a former football player at Rutgers University, New Brunswick.
