      Couple thankful for generosity of many
            We would like to thank each and every person who contributed to our May 2 fundraiser. This past year has been difficult, and without the help of family, friends and complete strangers, we would not have made it this far. We are absolutely overwhelmed by everyone's generosity.       PETA mourns loss of pet advocate, Bea Arthur
            Bea Arthur had a truly golden heart and will be sorely missed by everyone at PETA. She joined our organization in 1987, when the Golden Girls did an anti-fur episode, and because of her unending compassion and tireless efforts to make the world a kinder place, she won multiple Humanitarian Awards.

      Politicians commended for bill to abolish COAH
            Iwould like to commend Assemblywoman Amy Handlin and Assemblyman Sam Thompson for co-sponsoring a bill that would, in effect, abolish the costly affordable income housing (COAH) program. Gov. Jon Corzine's recent budget cut property tax rebates and property tax deductions for most families and municipal aid to Middletown, but did not cut unfunded mandates like COAH.
